Saving Tips From A Sophomore

There’s a lot that happens around campus for free, students just need to take the initiative to find it. Ally Turley, an in-state sophomore from OU, provided an insiders look on how she prevents her debit card balance from dropping.
For entertainment, the best thing to do is to go onto the University of Oklahoma website and see all of the events that are occurring. Whether it’s an improv comedy show or a free movie at the Meacham Auditorium, at least it is something to do when you need to take a breather from the books and spend time with some friends.
Ally’s advice for the freshmen is to avidly use their meal points. Rather than going to Wal-Mart to get toiletries or studying supplies, “purchase the things you need with meal points because the points don’t roll-over.”
Another tip is to join a club. It’s the best way to meet new people with the same interests and even food is sometimes provided. And who doesn’t love free baguettes from their French Club?
It’s beneficial to see how other students save their money because that formulates other possible ideas. So before you go out to an expensive movie theater, remember all of free activities offered around the campus.
